Metamorphosis of a Mancave using Insulspan SIPS®

July 5, 2016

Project RenderingSet on 51 acres of pristine land minutes from downtown Ann Arbor, this barn-like 1981 home had few redeeming qualities. The house was a drafty box with lots of brown siding and shingles, little insulation, andmancave in process sub-standard construction – perfect for a man cave but far from perfect for a growing family.

The owners came to Meadowlark for a sleeker, more modern home design. They also wanted to take full advantage of the property’s southern vistas and let the outdoors in. Comfort, resource-efficiency, excellent air quality and durability were also high on their list of must haves.
Meadowlark designed a new contemporary home using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) by Insulspan for both wall and roof structures. This building method results in a structure that outperforms conventional stick framed construction both in axial load strength and exceptional insulating properties.
